LYONS, N.Y. (WHEC) - The woman charged in connection to the murders of her ex-husband and his fiancee in Sodus faced a judge Tuesday.

Prosecutors tie Charlene Childers to the murders of Josh Niles and Amber Washburn.

Investigators say Childers, along with her husband Timothy Dean, worked together on a plot to kill Childers' ex, Josh Niles, last October. They say Childers' husband, Tim Dean, shot and killed the victims.

While that happened, a detective testified Tuesday that Childers was staying with her current boyfriend in Wayne County.

The detective sergeant on the stand Tuesday said at first he brought Childers in to provide background on Dean.

"During the conversation, information came in that was inconsistent," said Christine Callanan, assistant district attorney.

"The purpose of this hearing is to flush out, under oath, the person who conducted that interview to know it was done properly," added Rome Canzano, defense attorney.

The judge will determine if the detective's testimony can be used in the trial.

A third suspect, Bron Bohlar, pleaded guilty to conspiracy in February, admitting to renting a car for Dean.
