As temps rapidly plunge through, the rain will transition to snow by late Friday evening.

The snow could fall quite heavily for a couple hours before tapering off to snow showers overnight. Meanwhile, as a strong westerly wind pushes temps below freezing down into the 20s, and with precipitation ongoing, roads are expected to become icy with a flash freeze possible on untreated surfaces.

A Yellow Alert has been issued for this possibility.

Snowfall amounts on the order of an inch or two is expected. Snow showers look to come to an end Saturday morning with improving conditions, otherwise blustery and cold with temps near freezing for a high.
