A Yellow Alert has been issued for Friday night into Saturday morning for much of Western New York.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on the weekend storm system with rain, snow, wind and crashing temps expected.
A very large and impactful storm system is expected to develop late in the week with the potential for heavy rain arriving Thursday night and showers continuing throughout the day on Friday as temps remain warm for mid-December standards.
Rain increases again Friday night ahead of a deep low pressure system that looks to bring a change from rain to snow by Saturday morning.
Latest data supports the idea of accumulations and as temps drop below freezing, some slick roads could develop.
It's still too soon to talk about how much, just that travel could be negatively impacted.
Additional snow showers are likely on Saturday with gusty conditions and steady temps in the low 30's.
