TAMPA, F.L. (WHEC) — George Zimmerman sues two Democratic presidential candidates.
Zimmerman alleges Elizabeth Warren and Pete Buttigieg defamed him while paying tribute to Trayvon Martin on what would have been Martin's 25th birthday, according to our NBC affiliate in Tampa.
The lawsuit was filed in Polk County, Florida court against Warren and Buttigieg and Zimmerman is seeking $265 million.
The lawsuit alleges both candidates connected Martin's shooting death with gun violence in an attempt to, "garner votes in the black community."
Both Warren and Buttigieg tweeted about Martin earlier this month.
Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges for killing Martin in 2012.
