Lacrosse and softball teams face off in Section V finals

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — It was a busy night for Section V sports with lacrosse teams and softball teams facing off in sectionals. With the pandemic, that's the highest teams can go this year.

Victor and Canandaigua faced each other in girls lacrosse Monday night. 

With no sectional tournaments in spring sports last year, Canandaigua is still technically the reigning champ in Class B.

Canandaigua beat Victor 9-7 for the Section V title.

Pittsford beat Rush-Henrietta 7-6 for back-to-back titles for the panthers.

In boys lacrosse, Honeoye Falls-Lima won 18-10 against Livonia Avon for the first section title in program history.

The Penn Yan Mustangs won their tenth straight Section V championship anf twenty-fifth overall title 16-2 in boys lacrosse against Pal-Mac.

Then in softball, Brighton beat Webster Thomas 2-0, winning the Class A1 Sectional title.

Honeoye Falls-Lima won the Class A2 tournament in walk-off fashion, and in Class AA Webster Schroeder won a thriller over Fairport.

Avon and Newark won 10-0 over Bloomfield and Newark 3-2 over Waterloo.
