VICTOR, N.Y. (WHEC) — Victor high’s Lamia Karabegovic is a tennis player by day but her knack for writing poetry took off during the height of the pandemic. It started with just a few lines but soon after, there became enough to write a book out of it. That’s just what she did.

The senior tennis star published a book of her poetry a little while back titled "The Stars Think About You Too." From there her teammates learned of it and found that project interesting.

The Girls varsity team made it to the Section Semifinals recently where they lost to Fairport. However, she noted that mental difficulties of the game can weigh heavy but putting this together helped her stay composed on the court.

“So I guess writing was a mental outlet for me and then on the court it helped me focus,” she said. “I wouldn’t necessarily recite poems on the court but it was a great way for my thoughts to go. It’s a great form of self-expression and I wanted some reader out there to connect or feel like they’re not alone.”

“She’s been on varsity forever and she’s just had so many accomplishments and this is another one to add to her resume, it’s incredible,” girls varsity head coach Krystina Barnum said.

The book is available on Barnes and Noble’s website
