Canandaigua Police: 3 arrested after operation targeting potential child predators

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WHEC) — Three men from three different Rochester-area counties, one of whom was on parole for a rape conviction, are facing charges after an operation targeting potential child predators.

The Canandaigua and Geneva Police Departments teamed up for a joint operation with the goal of keeping kids safe this holiday season.

All three of them thought they were having sexual conversations with and making plans to meet up with 14-year-olds over the phone. In reality, they were talking to an undercover Canandaigua Police Investigator.

Dale C. Lloyd, 38, of Canandaigua was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 16 and charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor. Police say he is on parole for a second degree rape conviction, is being held in the Ontario County Jail and further charges against him are pending.

Scott D. Rightmyer, 52, of Brockport was arrested on Dec. 18 and charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor. He was given a ticket to appear in court on Jan. 12. Police say further charges against him are pending.

Gary D. Lyman Jr., 46, of Clifton Springs was arrested on Dec. 22 and charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor. He was given a ticket to appear in court on Jan. 12. Police say further charges against him are pending.
