VICTOR, N.Y. (WHEC) — A contractor who has been the subject of several News10NBC investigations is facing charges in Ontario County.

Deanna Dewberry has covered Scott Pepson several times. He’s a contractor who many people have accused of taking payment without completing jobs.

He was in court in February in Geneva and pleaded guilty to several charges and vowed to pay restitution.

Now, he’s charged with third degree grand larceny in connection to a contracting job from around Aug. 1 in Victor.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says Pepson accepted a contracting job to repair a barn for $23,000. The victim paid that amount, but the job was allegedly never completed. Some work was done, but deputies say it was poor quality and required another contractor to fix.

Pepson never refunded the victim according to deputies, who found some of it was spent on materials for other jobs.

Pepson was arraigned, then remanded to the Ontario County Jail without bail. He’s due back in Victor Town Court at a later date.

Several others have previously accused him of doing the same thing.

In a previous News10NBC investigation, Deanna Dewberry found resources to check before hiring a contractor.
