Firefighters: Fire that destroyed building at Three Brothers Winery and Estates ruled ‘accidental’

GENEVA, N.Y. (WHEC) —Seneca County Firefighters say a fire that destroyed a building on the property of Three Brothers Winery and Estates in Geneva Monday night was an accident.

News10NBC made a call to Seneca County Fire Coordinator Jeffrey Case, who confirmed it was an accidental fire.

As News10NBC Reporter Stephanie Duprey reported, the fire happened Monday evening inside the Bagg Dare Wine company, which is a building on the property. Fire officials said nobody was hurt and no one was inside of the building at the time of the fire. The building is a total loss.

In a post to the business’s Facebook page Tuesday, owners said the fire was a "shock" to all of them, but gave thanks to "hundreds and hundreds of comments" sent their way. The two remaining buildings on the property will open for regular hours on Thursday through the weekend. Additionally, the winery is working towards a "plan."

The wineries’ statement on Monday said it was "heartbroken" by the destruction of the building, which include authentic memorabilia inside, but shared relief nobody was hurt.

Case said Monday it took a while to put the fire out because of the heavy wind. Owners thanked the firefighter,s and other first responders for their quick response.
