Geneva High School cancels Saturday Varsity football game due to quarantine requirements

GENEVA, N.Y. (WHEC) — The majority of the Geneva High School Varsity football team is under mandatory quarantine after a possible COVID-19 exposure, so Saturday’s football game against Bishop Kearney is canceled, the district said Wednesday.

Director of Strategic Initiatives and Athletics Tricia Budgar said Geneva does not have the minimum number of eligible players because of the quarantine requirements.

"We are disappointed in the interruption of our season, but the health, wellness, and safety of our athletes takes precedence. We are looking forward to a full return to the season in the coming weeks," Budgar said.
