GENEVA, N.Y. (WHEC) — Geneva Police are investigating after they say racial graffiti was found and property was damaged at West Street Elementary School Sunday.

Police say they found graffiti carved into the playground that included racial slurs, swastikas and other “indecent images” as well as the phrase “Bring the Nazi’s back” and that a window and a floodlight were damaged.

Police say they canvassed the neighborhood thoroughly and reviewed surveillance video, and will be conducting several follow-up interviews as a result.

Police say the playground has been cleaned up and the graffiti is no longer visible.

In a press release, police said, “The City of Geneva, the Police Department, and the community will not tolerate hateful, racist acts such as this.  The Geneva Police Department will ensure this is investigated fully to find the responsible person(s), get to the root of why this was done, and ensure all those involved are held responsible.”
