FARMINGTON, N.Y. (WHEC) – A new plan to help keep the roads safer in Farmington is now ready to go.
On Friday, Ontario County cut the ribbon on a brand new roundabout connecting County Road 28 and Shortsville Road.
The Sheriff's Office says the intersection has been a problematic area for years and they hope the new setup will help traffic flow more smoothly in the area.
"For the county, the town, and the state to focus on the safety of our intersections especially those that are designated as maybe a higher safety priority, to commit to the funds in able to make our highways safer is definitely a pro that we are very blessed in Ontario County," says Sheriff Kevin Henderson.
The new intersection is expected to reduce crashes by more than 70 percent.
