Officers: Geneva man left dog tied up on hot driveway without food or water

GENEVA, N.Y. (WHEC)— Ontario County Humane Officers say a Geneva man is facing several charges, including animal cruelty, after they say he left his dog tied up in the high heat,

Officers say they found James Valder’s 14-year-old dog, Rocky, tied out on his driveway on July 15. They say Rocky did not have food or water and appeared to be in distress due to the 90-degree conditions.

Rocky was taken to a local vet as officers say he was hyperventilating due to the extreme heat exposure. Despite his condition, he is expected to survive.

Valder was located and charged with animal cruelty, failure to provide food/water to an impounded animal, and failure to provide adequate shelter.

He will appear in the City of Geneva Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Rocky remains at the Ontario County Humane Society Shelter at this time.
