ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two people are in custody after Orleans County law enforcement says they were involved in two robberies and a chase.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office says it started with an early-morning robbery at the Crosby’s on North Main Street in Albion Monday.
Police say the suspect had a weapon and demanded cash, they ran into a vehicle and drove away.

The Sheriff’s Office said the next robbery happened at the Family Dollar on Maple Ridge Road in Medina at around 10:35 a.m. Monday.

The suspect allegedly showed a handgun, left with cash, then drove off in a small black car with out-of-state plates.

Medina Police, Albion Police, the New York State Police and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Deputies all searched for the car. It was found heading east on Route 104 in the Town of Ridgeway.

Deputies say law enforcement tried to pull the car over, but it sped through Ridgway, Gaines and Carlton, speeding through lawns and ditches to avoid police and deputies.

The Sheriff’s Office says at one point, the car drove at a deputy’s patrol car. The deputy jumped out, and the Sheriff’s Office says shots were fired into the car as the suspect was trying to hit the deputy.

The chase ended when the car lost a wheel on Stillwater Road in the Town of Carlton.

A man and a woman were arrested. The Sheriff’s Office says it believes they are linked to several robberies and grand larcenies in Monroe and Orleans Counties.

The Sheriff’s Office says there were no injuries to any police officers or the suspects.

The names of the suspects and the charges against them were not released.
