CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WHEC) — The City of Canandaigua Police Department and other agencies are investigating after a dead body was found in Canandaigua Lake on Monday.
Police say they responded shortly before 4:30 p.m. to Lakefront Park, where there were reports of a person "unresponsive in the water." Upon arrival, police as well as fire and EMS found a dead man in about two feet of water near the shore.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Andrew Cochran.
Investigators are working with the Ontario County Coroner's Office to determine the exact cause of death, but believe it was accidental. The investigation is being handled as an "unattended death," and there is no cause of concern for the public.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office Scuba Division helped with the recovery.
