Police find truck believed to be involved in deadly hit-and-run in Canandaigua

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police are still investigating a deadly hit-and-run that happened Saturday night in Canandaigua.

A call for a car that struck a pedestrian and fled the scene came in at around 6 p.m. on South Main Street near Niagara Street.

Police said the man was using his motorized scooter to cross the street when he was hit by a green Ford pickup truck.

He was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital but later died. Police Monday said the victim was 62-year-old Edwin Wesley of Canandaigua.

Police say they still have a person of interest in the case, but no arrests have been made as of Tuesday.

Tuesday, Canandaigua Police said they found the truck they were looking for at a storage facility in the Town of Canandaigua.

Police said Tuesday they are still investigating the crash and are asking anyone with information to call Canandaigua Police and ask for Detective Sergeant Mastracy at 585-337-2109 or email PJM@canandaiguanewyork.gov.
