ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A 19-year-old man is dead and another is in the hospital following an incident at a business Tuesday morning in Orleans County.

Emergency crews responded to the scene at around 11 a.m. for the report of two men trapped in a semi-tanker at Millennium Roads on East Yates Center Road in the town of Yates.

Fire personnel, deputies from the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, and crews from the Orleans County Emergency Management Office were able to remove the men — 35-year-old Chase Johnson and 19-year-old Keegan Bayne — from inside of the semi-tanker.

Deputies say one of the men was unresponsive and the other appeared to have shallow breathing.

Bayne was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was treated on scene by Medina Fire Department personnel and then flown to Strong Memorial Hospital, where is he currently in guarded condition.

Investigators say the men had been cleaning inside the semi-tanker that was used to carry the product lignin.
