BARRE, N.Y. (WHEC) — A plane had to make an emergency landing in a farmer's field on Sunday in Orleans County.

The Orleans County Sheriff's Office says that Cessna landed around 3:30 p.m. in the cornfield in the Town of Barre about 1500 feet off the road. The pilot told first responders that he had been flying skydivers and had allowed two of them to jump, but that as he circled to return to Pine Hill Airport he ran out of fuel, leading to the emergency landing.

The pilot was not injured and the plane was undamaged. A crew from the Pine Hill Airport came and fueled the plane and towed it out to Bragg-School House Road, where the plane was able to take off again.

The Sheriff's Office is still investigating the incident.
