ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The State Assembly passed an amendment expanding access to absentee ballot voting.
Lawmakers are working to make what's called "no excuse" absentee voting permanent. That means it wouldn't matter why you want or need an absentee ballot.
Under current New York State law, a voter must provide a specific reason for why they will not be able to vote in person in order to get one.
The amendment has already passed the Senate.
From here, voters will have the final say in November and if passed it will be added to the state's constitution.
