ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — With primary day coming up on Tuesday, June 22, many people in Monroe County are voting early.

Early voting started Saturday at 14 locations throughout the county, and voters included some candidates and their families.

Rochester mayoral candidate and City Councilmember Malik Evans said he's waiting until Election Day, but his wife cast her vote Saturday.

"We want to encourage everyone to take this next eight days to go out and vote early," Evans told News10NBC Saturday. "It's important that the public does that because you have the flexibility. You have the flexibility to vote on your own time on weekends, after work, and so that's what these early voting days can do for you. So, you got eight days to vote early. If you miss early voting, you have your last chance on the 22nd of June. But, we want to encourage everyone to vote early if possible."

Evans is challenging incumbent Lovely Warren, who voted at Sibley Square. She declined News10NBC's multiple requests for an interview Saturday.

According to the Monroe County Board of Elections, 653 people in the county voted early. Click here for a breakdown per poll site.

Early voting continues daily through Sunday, June 20, 2021. A list of times and locations of early voting sites can be found here.
