NEW YORK (WHEC) — New York State is getting more funding to keep its drinking water clean.

Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced $220 million in funding from the EPA.

The money will go toward projects to protect the surface water in Upstate New York communities.

The senators say New York's sewer systems are long-overdue for improvements.
