ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Are you trying to juggle family, health, and work during this pandemic? You're probably already stressed to the max, and finding child care on Election Day may be another stressor. Not to worry, there is help at a YMCA branch in the Rochester area.
Care.com and the Armed Services YMCA will provide free child care for parents on Election Day at 27 locations across the country, including Rochester.
In addition to the other services they provide, the Armed Services YMCAs offer free or low-cost programs and services for military families. On Election Day, these YMCAs will extend free child care to the general public.
The YMCA Center for Equity at Lewis Street is one affiliate taking part in this free offer.
To comply with COVID-19 rules, parents must preregister and reserve your spot on the Armed Services YMCA website ahead of Election Day, and on Nov. 3, all you have to do is show your identification, drop your child off, and go vote.
Kids ages five through 12 are welcome from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
You will have three hours of free child care while you cast your ballot and Care.com will pick up the tab.
All children will need to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth the whole time. They will also need to pass a health screening before entering the building.
