ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) —Here’s a Good Question about Rochester’s mayor.

Kim sent News10NBC a message after hearing Mayor Lovely Warren is running for a third term in office.

"I thought mayors in NYS could only serve two consecutive terms there had to be a break then they could run again."

That is the rule for certain places in New York, but not Rochester. There are no term limits for the mayor here. So, Warren, First sworn into office in 2014, reelected again in 2017, can and is running to keep her title this year,

Where the confusion comes, is if you’re curious and search online for term limits in this state. You’ll see recent stories highlighting a big race in New York, for the mayor of New York City. For example–Bill De Blasio can’t run again for a third consecutive term due to limits there.

Again, no rules like that for Rochester.
