Good Question: How do I cancel multiple COVID vaccination bookings?

ROCHESTER,N.Y. (WHEC)— Here’s a Good Question about vaccine appointments.

We’re looking at an issue that continues to get in the way of the vaccine rollout. In the mad rush to refresh appointment pages online and to try to get your COVID vaccine as soon as possible, we know many people are getting their original vaccine appointment, then booking others.

Those appointments may be at a different–closer location, or people try to get their shot sooner, rather than weeks or months later. For people that have been able to find and book "extra" time slots, some are forgetting to cancel what they already had.

Monroe County Health Commissioner Dr. Mike Mendoza spoke about that earlier this month.
“They can look on their schedule and see the same name four times and they are calling to confirm if that’s four different people,” Dr. Mendoza said. “If they find out those appointments are no longer necessary, they have a standby list if you will to try to bring people in or they will make those appointments available again through the link."

So– how do you cancel appointments?

If you booked through the state site you need to call the NYS vaccine hotline at 1-833-NYS-4VAX.

Check when and where you can get the vaccine here.

For those with Monroe County site bookings, you should call or email the local COVID hotline or email address (585) 753-5555 or COVID19@monroecounty.gov.
