ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Over the past couple of weeks, News10NBC’s Brennan Somers has heard from several viewers asking about cleaning procedures at Wegmans.

Here’s one recent email: "Can you find out why Wegmans is no longer sanitizing their shopping carts and no longer has the sanitizing carts throughout the store with employees sanitizing all handles and any common areas that are touched by many shoppers?"

Somers reached out to the company to see if any of those claims are true.

A spokesperson sent this response:

“Across the company we follow the guidance of the local or state health departments, frequently going beyond what is required of us and sanitizing our carts multiple times throughout the day. In addition, we have cleaning wipes available at the front of all stores for customer use. We have enhanced our sanitation of high-contact touchpoints and increased the frequency of our everyday sanitation practices.”

So, just because you’re not seeing them every single time you walk through the doors or pick up a cart that doesn’t mean they’ve given up on cleaning.
