ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— There’s something that's catching the eyes of a lot of drivers--Big green "B" signs posted all over the place it seems.
Here are the emails News10NBC’s Brennan Somers received this week: What are they for? Friends and I have spotted them in Henrietta, Fairport, Victor, and Bushnell’s Basin.
Another message: What is the meaning of the large white with green outline "B" signs that have popped up all over Rochester? Some guess it might have something to do with back to school. For Brockport? No. Brighton? Well, no, not for school at least, but you're getting close.
It's actually for Brighton Securities. Somers spoke with George Conboy, chair of the financial services firm.
They're busy doing a launch of a revamped logo. There's even a clock on their website counting down to "big news" dropping a little more than a week from now. Conboy told Somers "Same great people, same great firm, new logo.”
That's your answer.
Of course, this isn't the first company to do something like this with temporary signs. Other businesses looking to get the most eyes on ads put them up in yards, by roads, and on other properties. The specifics can vary by city and town.
Common themes? Obviously, you'd need permission from the property owner if it isn't you.
You can't cause a traffic hazard. There are rules for how big a sign can be, how far you have to keep them from the edge of the property, and limits for how long they can be up.
