ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Here’s a Good Question: When will my absentee vote get counted?

The short answer- there’s no one rule covering everyone in New York, it just depends on where you live.

Some counties won’t start until mid- November, on the 16th.

Why that date?

That’s the cut off for military and overseas federal voters to get their ballots back to their board of elections.

Here’s a rundown of the timeframe locally to start going through absentee votes:

  • Livingston County is first: Monday, Nov.9
  • Ontario, Orleans, Wyoming, and Genesee all go Tuesday, Nov.10
  • Lastly– Monroe and Wayne counties go on Monday, Nov 16.

Remember, New Yorkers had until Nov.3 to get absentee ballots postmarked, so some, including those overseas, still may not have even made it back to the board of elections just yet.
