HENRIETTA, N.Y. (WHEC) — One person is seriously injured after an ambulance crashed into a tree off of East River Road in Henrietta.

It happened at around 3:15 p.m. on Friday on the 5800 block.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the Penfield Volunteer Ambulance left the road and hit a tree and it appears the driver may have had a medical emergency before the crash.

The driver was a third-party professional who had permission to be driving the ambulance, and was not a Penfield Volunteer Ambulance employee, according to the MCSO.
