ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The City of Rochester, Common Ground Health and Foodlink were selected to receive the grant as part of the Healthiest Cities and Counties Challenge.

The money will be used as part of the city's "Rochester 2034" plan to create a food policy council. The purpose of the policy would be to ensure affordable access to healthy, high-quality food for all.

"It is no secret that for some of our residents that chances of finding fresh fruits and vegetables for sale in their neighborhoods are about as good as winning the lottery, and those odds aren't that great," Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren said.

The Healthiest Cities and Counties Challenge assists 20 communities in several states.
