37th Lakeside Winterfest Celebration and Polar Plunge back in February

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The 37th Lakeside Winterfest Celebration and Polar Plunge are back at Ontario Beach Park next month.

The Lakeside Winterfest Celebration will run from noon to 6:30 p.m. and include ice carvers creating unique, frozen art, a “Rochester landmarks” themed snow sculpture contest, tractor-drawn carriage rides, sled dog and snowshoeing demonstrations as well as an opportunity to vote for Rochester’s best chili at the Chilly Chili Challenge and the 12th Lake Ontario Wine and Craft Beer Festival.

On Sunday, Feb. 6, more than 1,000 are expected to enjoy "freezin’ for a reason"—running into Lake Ontario to benefit the Special Olympics of New York.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., a costume contest with a DJ, entertainment, and refreshments starts at 10 a.m., opening ceremonies will start at 11:40 a.m. and the plunge will be at noon.
