Woman dies following crash in downtown Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A woman was killed and three others were injured in a crash in downtown Rochester Monday night.

The crash happened at the intersection of Chestnut and East Main streets around 9:45 p.m. Police say a driver was speeding and ran a red light when that car crashed into another vehicle.

Officers say the 33-year-old woman driving the car that was hit has died. Three other people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say there were three people, including the woman who died, in the car that was hit and the other vehicle only had one occupant.

The name of the woman killed was not released, pending notification of her family.

Police have not said if any charges will be filed. The investigation is ongoing.
