ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)—A parade of people within the local amateur radio scene offered a salute to a longtime friend Sunday morning.
Members of multiple HAM radio clubs got out in the snow for a car parade in honor of Irv Goodman, he's now living in the Saint Anne's Home in Webster, but for years he's been a big part of the world of amateur radio.
As Irv sat socially distanced inside his window, friends offered their tributes, by radio of course. Organizers say Irv has been at the forefront of pushing ham radio, especially for emergency drills for situations when normal communications might get knocked out.
In the age of cell phones, organizers say HAM radio clubs have been shrinking, and they say it was encouraging to see the big crowd who turned out for the tribute.
