ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— A lockout protocol at the Aquinas Institute has been lifted after a shooting nearby caused the school the put the protocol in place Wednesday morning.

In a message to parents Wednesday, the school said it was notified by Rochester Police of an "incident" in a neighborhood, and the lockout followed. A lockout means visitors cannot come into the building.

A spokesperson says students are safe and classes are continuing as usual.

As for the incident itself, Rochester Police tell us a shooting happened at 1168 Dewey Ave, both inside and outside the store.

One person was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
