BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) —  The Monroe County Water Authority has lifted the boil water advisory for the village of Brockport and the towns of Clarkson and Sweden on Sunday.

Monroe County Water Authority says all laboratory test results collected during the Boil Water Advisory verify that the water quality meets federal and state drinking water quality standards and it's no longer necessary to boil your drinking water.

The boil water advisory went into effect on Friday after a water main break.

The water authority says at around 12:40 a.m. the water system lost pressure due to a water main break on North Lake Road in the town of Clarkson. The water authority says when water loses its pressure, it's easier for harmful microbes to enter.

Those microbes can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms and may pose a health risk, especially for babies, seniors, and people with compromised immune systems.

The water authority told residents on Friday that they should boil water until further notice.
