BUSHNELL'S BASIN, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Bushnell's Basin Volunteer Fire Department held its annual open house event on Saturday, as a drive-through.
It was all part of an effort to keep people's homes safe during the pandemic.
"We're still a part of the community," said Assistant Fire Chief Richard Tantalo. "We're still here, we're the stakeholders for Bushnell's Basin here in the town of Perinton. And we felt like something needed to be done to get that information out, let people know we're still here, get them involved, let our members know that we're still involved. And be there for the community as we always are."
People who pulled their cars and trucks through were given brochures and packets filled with tips on keeping their homes from going up in flames. There were also recruitment efforts.
