ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester City Council will hold a special meeting Thursday to formally fill the vacant councilmember at large seat.
During the meeting, councilmembers will vote on legislation naming Miguel A. Meléndez, Jr. as the next councilmember at large.
On Monday, the city council announced Meléndez as the replacement for former Councilmember at Large, now Board of Elections Commissioner, Jacklyn Ortiz. The seat has been open since Aug. 27.
Meléndez will be sworn into office immediately after the vote and will serve out the current term, which expires Dec. 31, 2021.
