IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WHEC) — Construction began Wednesday on a new affordable housing complex on Culver Road in Irondequoit.
Funding for the $20.6 million project is coming from the state.
Crews News10NBC spoke with on scene say this is a great opportunity to give back to our under-served residents.
"What's really exciting too is we're starting to chip away at this deep crisis that we have for senior affordable housing options," Rochester Management CEO Peggy Hill said. "So these apartments are very affordable and they also carry really important supportive services as well."
There will be 80 new apartments in total. Each will have all the necessary amenities included and transportation will be available weekly for groceries.
