Convicted murderer charged with production of child pornography

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A convicted murderer on parole is now charged with production of child pornography.

Israel Rivera-Reyes, 48, of Rochester was convicted of intentional second degree murder back in 1995 and sentenced to five years in prison. Prosecutors say he was released on parole in 2006, but his parole was revoked in 2012, 2013, and 2014 before he was re-paroled on March 14, 2019.

It was on April 7 of this year that Child Protective Services informed the Irondequoit Police Department that Rivera had sexual contact with a teenager on multiple occasions and sent explicit photos and videos. When police searched the teenager’s phone, they found multiple sexually explicit videos. On Wednesday, Irondequoit Police searched Rivera’s home, took his phone and arrested him.

If convicted, Rivera faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years.
