ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo Friday announced that hair salons, barbershops and other personal care services will expand to 75% capacity beginning May 7.
Shops and salons across New York State continue to be limited to 50% capacity and owners and stylists previously told News10NBC the restrictions were making it hard for them to make ends meet.
Salon owners had been asking for expanded capacity, especially now that vaccination efforts are well underway.
Cuomo also announced indoor dining would be expanded to 75% in New York City, which is in line with the rest of the state. That also takes effect on May 7. He added in a Tweet that masks and social distancing are still required.
Cuomo also announced that the state is getting rid of the microcluster zone strategy.
