ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York State casinos have been given the all-clear to reopen on Sept. 9.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the announcement during a conference call on Thursday.
According to the governor, they will have to operate at 25% capacity, and face coverings will need to be worn at all times unless eating or drinking.
Casinos, like gyms and malls, will also need enhanced air filtration systems in order to reopen.
There must be six feet between machines, and tabletop games are only allowed if there are physical barriers between players.
The State Gaming Commission will be enforcing the regulations according to Gov. Cuomo's office.
Casinos have been closed since mid-March due to the pandemic. Tribal casinos reopened earlier as they were not bound by the governor's orders.
