Cuomo sends Sen. Maj. Leader his resignation letter

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Sen. Maj. Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins has received Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s resignation letter.

The letter is dated Aug. 23, which is set to be his last day in office. Cuomo’s tenure as governor will end at 11:59 p.m. Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul is set to become the first female governor of New York in a private, midnight swearing-in ceremony. The official ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday.

She is expected to make a public address at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

He first announced his resignation on Aug. 10, one week after the release of the state attorney general’s report, which documented the sexual harassment stories of 11 women. Cuomo has always denied he harassed and groped women and said he’s been treated unfairly.
