ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New reforms from Gov. Andrew Cuomo are going into effect Wednesday.

The reforms will prohibit businesses from charging a pink tax, which is the practice of charging different prices for similar goods or services that are marketed toward different genders.

For example, items like clothing, razors and deodorant often fall subject to a pink tax.

Businesses that violate the law could face civil penalties including a fine.
