DA's Office: 16-year-old charged with murder in shooting during Gates carjacking

GATES, N.Y. (WHEC) — A 16-year-old has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of an Irondequoit man during an attempted carjacking in Gates earlier this month, the Monroe County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

Edgar Tolentino, 16, was arrested at around 3 p.m. on Thursday and charged with second-degree murder in the April 7 death of Richard Sciascia on Buell Road.

The criminal complaint against Tolentino alleges that he shot Sciascia.

The District Attorney's Office says shortly after his arrest, Tolentino was arraigned virtually in Youth Part Court and is currently being held without bail.

His next court date is scheduled for April 28 at 11:30 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.
