ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Thursday preliminary hearing for one of the suspects in the deadly Gates attempted carjacking has been canceled because he was indicted by a grand jury on at least one count.

That’s according to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.

Anthony Jacobs, 16, was taken into custody on Friday after his mother brought him into the Gates Police Station. He pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder during his virtual arraignment the same day.

Jacobs was the second person arrested in the shooting death of Richard Sciascia on April 7 during an attempted carjacking on Buell Road in Gates.

Edgar Tolentino, 16, was the first suspect arrested. He was charged with murder.
