PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — Monroe County deputies say a suspect was detained after a Wednesday morning bank robbery led to a brief chase.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office initially went to the Key Bank on Penfield Road near Rt.250 just after 10:15 a.m. for a robbery call. Witnesses gave deputies a description of the car the suspect hopped into, which was soon spotted in East Rochester.

Deputies say the car then headed onto I-490 west, at which point multiple agencies including New York State and ER Police tried to pull the car over, but the suspect kept driving. MCSO says the driver then veered off onto 590 north and hit a guardrail.

A person in the car ran off but was detained shortly after. Two other people were detained at the scene of the crash.

Deputies called the investigation "active" and no charges were announced.
