ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The East Rochester man who shot two women sitting on a porch in Rochester last summer was convicted Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Derrick Peace, 40, was found guilty of attempted murder, first and second degree assault, and two counts of second degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The shooting happened on Lexington Avenue near Curlew Street on Aug. 3, 2020.

Prosecutors say both women were shot multiple times, at close range and there were children inside the home at the time of the shooting, which was during daylight hours.

Both victims survived, but had a lengthy recovery and are still suffering from physical and emotional effects of the shooting.

District Attorney Sandra Doorley said the conviction couldn’t have happened without help from the witnesses and members of the community.

Peace is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 8.
