Eastman House receives grant to preserve rare films

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Eastman House is getting some major funding to help preserve some of its rare films.

The National Film Preservation Foundation is giving the museum a $70,470 grant.

The money will be used for three rare films.

The 35-millimeter prints of "The Country Beyond" and "The Millionaire Vagrant" are likely the only versions of those films still in existence.

And the house’s single reel of Charlie Chaplin’s "The Gold Rush" is the only material that uses the original tinting.
