ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)—A Fairport man found guilty of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death in Canandaigua last year will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

William Fricke Wednesday was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole by a Monroe County judge after the kidnapping and killing of Julie Baker on Jan. 2, 2020, at Baker's friend's home in Canandaigua.

Authorities say Fricke killed Baker during the kidnapping and attempted to kill 62-year-old Dennis Gruttadaro, the friend and witness, but he survived.

A jury found Fricke guilty on all charges, including two-counts of first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, and first-degree assault.

His trial began on April 14.

Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts tells News10NBC Fricke will be serving consecutive life sentences, one for the murder charges and another for the attempted murder charges.
