Fairport Oktoberfest kicks off Thursday

FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) — The 12th annual Fairport Oktoberfest kicks off Thursday, Sept. 23, and runs through Saturday, Sept. 25.

The festival will take place at the Fairport Junction Festival Site on Liftbridge Lane East in Fairport.

The event is not only to celebrate German-American culture but to raise funds to support the ongoing activities of the Fairport Partnership for a Better Community, a volunteer-based community development organization.

Admission costs $8 in advance or $10 at the gate.

There will be German music and dancing by day and rock bands by night.

The festival will also offer traditional German food by Swan Market, and Helmut’s Strudel, and food trucks

The Fairport Scarecrow Festival is also on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Oktoberfest organizers say COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
