ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — One mother who faced a brutal tragedy marched on Saturday as a way to try and make sure the same thing doesn't happen to someone else.

The marchers rallied in Rochester in memory of Aszia Grimes. Grimes was killed last September on Orchard Street, and her murder remains unsolved.

Her mom, Debi Tellier, says that the march was not just for her daughter, but to also bring awareness of ongoing violence in the Lyell Avenue neighborhood.

"The reason they haven't been able to find the person who killed my daughter and left her for dead in an empty lot is because they're too busy being worried about all the other murders going on and we want it to stop," she says. "We need it to stop. This community needs to come back together and that's what we're trying to do, bring everybody back together."

Tellier lives only a few houses down from the site where 25-year-old Jaquan Hill was killed earlier this month. She says violence in that area has been an ongoing issue year after year and needs to be addressed.
